SEATTLE, Wash. — Last weekend’s historical matchup between West Seattle Junction FC and CFC Atletico provided everything you could ever ask for in a soccer game. It was a fierce, tightly contested battle by both sides for the full 90 minutes, which eventually ended in a 2-2 draw. While Junction didn’t come out on top, they showed their faithful fans of West Seattle, as well as the rest of the division, just how tough of competitors they truly are. With their first ever USL League 2 game under their belt, West Seattle Junction FC is looking to build upon that momentum and climb up in the rankings as they prepare to take on top of the table Lane United FC.
Lane United, much like CFC Atletico last weekend, are an established club with USL pedigree. They’ve seen some talented individuals come through their squads in the past, the most notable of which being Duncan McGuire, who starred for Lane United FC during the 2022 USL League 2 season and was chosen in the first round by Orlando City SC in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft. LUFC currently sits atop the division after defeating Midlakes United 3-1 last weekend.
“We have to be ready to take it to them from the first whistle,” said Head Coach Oman when asked about how the team is preparing for their match against Lane United. “We’ve shown how we can fight back in games, but I want us to be more consistent and thoughtful in how we possess the ball, which will help us dictate the game in our favor.”
This weekend’s matchup will be at 7:00 pm under the lights at Nino Cantu Southwest Athletic Complex. Tickets can be purchased online here.
