“Why can’t it be us?” This is, and has been the mindset all week in West Seattle, as the Boys in Junction Blue have their eyes set on knocking off top-of-the-table Tacoma Stars, who are the only undefeated team in the NW Division of the Western Conference. Despite falling to Tacoma earlier in the season, Junction FC’s recent run of games could be enough momentum to continue to propel them further up the table.
At this point in the season, Junction FC has become known as one of the more physically dominant teams in the division. “They are a team that works extremely hard. They’re passionate, they get into tackles, and they make it difficult for other teams to play,” said Lane United’s Head Coach John Galas after Junction FC’s win against LUFC earlier in the week. You can see that this mentality of “playing with a chip on your shoulder” has been fully embraced by Junction FC, with Head Coach Oman echoing Galas’s sentiments with some words of his own heading in Sunday’s matchup against Tacoma. “We’re passionate, and we play hard. Our guys just compete, and it starts with the environment that is set in our training sessions week in and week out.”
Sunday’s home game against Tacoma will kickoff at 2:00 pm at Nino Cantu Southwest Athletic Complex, and it will be a perfect way to celebrate Father’s Day this weekend. There will also be Pride Month celebrations taking place for people of all ages, including face painting, special musical guests such as DJ Y/C, and food and drink from Leeky Fig, Sweet Wheels, and Cafe Calaveras! Tickets starting at $10 can be purchased online, plus you can get 20% off of our Junction FC Dad Hats this weekend only. Make sure to come out for an afternoon of fast-paced, entertaining action in the West Seattle community.
